I started this site as a work related project to learn HTML. Hence why the site is regularly changing with the more I learn. The hardest part so far, was deciding what topic to use for my site. So I decided to use an old favourite of mine, THE NUMBER 23. It all started in 1994 (1+9+9+4=23) when I read The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea. Coincidentally the same year as my 23rd birthday. A character in the book called Simon Moon identifies what he calls the "23 synchronicity principle", which he credits to being discovered by William S. Burroughs. This set me on the path of finding more synchronicities, coincidences, call them what you will. Since reading that book I've always had an eye open for 23's. I also went through a period where I kept a record to see if any other random number would occur as regularly as twenty three. And no other number came near. Then it seemed as if every time I watched TV, 23's would be hiding somewhere on screen. The house Captain Mainwaring lives at (Dad's Army), the calendar on the back wall in Steptoe and Son, the house in which the programme Spaced was set. Happy Gilmore's helmet, The house with the captured Milkmen (Monty Python's, And Now for Something Completely Different). And now I'm finding them in my daughter's books. Charlie & Lola, Mr Impossible, the 23 book box set of Beatrix Potter . The list goes on.... So, I thought I'd keep a record of 23's that occur to me here in my Blog.
